Re: Set camera to shoot raw format

Is it possible that your hand or some other object is getting too close to the viewfinder? That could activate the eye sensor, which shuts off the rear screen and activates the display in the EVF.

Re: The Panasonic Leica Noctiron 42.5mm f/1.2 is here

Either your sensor or your cat needs a better dust-reduction system. :D

Re: Panasonic UK reveals Lumix G price promotions

These are some hefty deals/discounts. I wonder what prompted them. Have sales been less than expected?

Re: Rainforest Critique

Thank you for the feedback. This was one of my favorite compositions as well, so I was disappointed about the fogginess I ended up with. I'm thinking about having a 16x20" print made to enter this in...

Re: Amazon Wildlife

Thanks everyone! I never cease to be surprised by everyone's favorites--the group consensus is usually different from my favorites!

Stef, the color and patters of the heron looks right for a Great...

Amazon Wildlife

A few photos of the wildlife I managed to capture in the Brazilian Amazon. Unlike the big game reserves in Africa, wildlife in the Amazon is much more sparse, and often remains hidden. So it was...

Rainforest Critique

My E-M5 had just a little bit of trouble on my trip to the Amazon. One night, there was a very heavy rain, and I discovered after-the-fact that the roof of my hut had several leaks, including one...

Amazon Rainforest - Xixuau Reserve

I returned from my trip to the Amazon Rainforest a few weeks ago, and finally finished editing all of the photos. I went to a remote place called the Xixuau Reserve (pronounced Shee-shoo-ah-oo),...

MySet Selection on E-M5

I was just reading the review of the E-M10 on dpreview and came across this tidbit:

"One feature unique to Olympus is that any of the mode dial positions can be assigned to recall a custom camera...

Re: Storage..Past Present and Future

Hardly anyone still uses tape drives at home, but large data centers often do. For large quantities of data that are not accessed frequently, they are very economical.

The starting post to this...

Re: New Samyang 12mm 1:2.0 NCS CS lens

The lens is designed for mirrorless cameras, so it probably couldn't be made in a 4/3 mount--it needs to be closer to the sensor. A similar lens for 4/3 would have to be a completely different...

Re: Typical lens dilemma

Oops . . . I thought you were asking about MFT lenses. My experience is with the MFT Panasonic-Leica DG Summilux, not the older 4/3 version.

Re: Typical lens dilemma

I have the PanLeica 25, but I've never used the Sigma, so I can say a bit about the PanLeica, but can't really make a comparison. (Actually, the PanLeica is the only AF MFT lens I've used; my other...

Re: In camera corrections

I always thought that official Panasonic policy was that Leica-branded lenses did not use software corrections. Am I mistaken, or has the policy changed over time? This could help explain the CA...

. . . and is the answer the same for all Panasonic lenses, or do different lenses support different levels of in-camera correction in Olympus cameras?

And what about when processing RAW files in...

Re: E5 Will Not Connect To Computer

Does the E-5 connect to a PC, or does it have the same problems as with the iMac? The problem could unfortunately be with the connector on the camera. If this is the case, the only fix would be a...

Re: The big Kodak CCD v.s. LiveMOS sensor colour debate

C is my favorite, but it's a difficult choice with no clear winner. I want to say that the colors in C look the most accurate, but I may prefer it just because it seems to have the best contrast...

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

Yes, that's what I was referring to. It's clear from the tests of many mirrorless lenses that the optical design leaves an unacceptable amount of distortion, with the intention of correcting it in...

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

Like it or not, it seems clear that software correction of lens distortion is here to stay. Many of us have a knee-jerk reaction to it, saying that distortion should be corrected in the glass. But...
