Re: Stylus 1 Firmware 2.0 available now.

I definitely wish they would add focus peaking to the E-M5! I use MF quite often: landscapes, when using my SWD lenses (which don't AF so well on the E-M5), and with the manual-only Samyang fisheye...

Re: Nicaragua - Another Stint

I like the blue theme of this one as well. The others from this set don't interest me as much because the people don't look very engaged with the viewer--either too small/far away, or looking off to...

Re: Chincoteague

Thanks for the comments, everyone. This may be the first time I've had so much agreement with my favorite. *LOL

I'm sorry you couldn't make it too, Jeff. As I mentioned, though, the workshop was...

Chincoteague

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a nature photography workshop through the Chincoteague Bay Field Station on the eastern shore of Virginia (United States). The workshop (and weather!) was a bit of a...

Re: Ask your questions about the new OM-D family and E-M5 camera

It's not a bug, it's a feature! In the highlight/shadow display mode, those orange and blue areas are showing you parts of the image that are completely white and completely black. It's very useful...

Re: Hello from the 'States!

John sums it up well, as always. :) With native MFT lenses, the latest MFT bodies focus exceptionally well in low light. I don't have the lenses you mention in your other post, teesquare, but with...

Re: GH4 Serious noise pixel distortion...HELP!

I don't know much about video, and I'm not familiar with the GH-4, so hopefully someone else can make useful comments . . . the video certainly doesn't look great, but I don't know if I would call...

I enjoyed them as well. I'm glad you took the long walks in the cold and shared the photos with us. :)

Re: It's a black and white world we live in

Great photos, John! I especially like #3, with the contrast between the traditional clothing of the Hasidim and their modern cameras. But all of these are very well done.

Re: Am I seeing things or are the images grainy?

I'm not quite sure what you're seeing. In the first image, the sky looks blotchy to me, but I don't see anything I would call grainy. I can't tell what is causing the blotchiness, but it's not...

Re: Olympus 12-40 vs 12-60

I've never used the 12-40, but I face/have faced the same question. The smaller size compared to the 12-60 would be nice, and I'm disappointed by the poor AF performance of the 12-60 on the E-M5....

Re: Burning man

I think it could be nice if you crop off some from the left, as well as part of the sky; maybe a bit of the foreground sand as well. I like the elements a lot--the bicycles strewn around, the giant...

Re: Elephant Options

One note about the color: Elephants often roll in the dirt and take dust baths to protect their skin from sun and insects. The ground here is mostly red clay, so in accurate color, the Elephants are...

Zoo Birds (and Cute Mammals)

A few bird and mammal photos from my recent trip to the North Carolina Zoo. The first two came from the Aviary, an indoor, free-flight exhibit in which visitors walk around amongst the birds.

I made another visit to the North Carolina Zoo a couple of weeks ago. The zoo's pair of lions had four cubs on July 30, 2014. They just recently went on exhibit, so how could I resist taking a bunch...

Definitely many things that were not ideal about this! A longer focal length would have been better, but I also didn't want to stand in front of the stage and block peoples' view. The bright sunlight...

Cloggers

Last weekend, I went to "Festifall," a street festival in my town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I brought my small kit, the E-M5 with Pan-Leica DG 25mm f/1.4 and Samyang 7.5mm fisheye lenses. One...
