E-620 Noise

Rate this Entry
When I switch Noise Reduction to OFF, Noise Filter to OFF and Gradation to NORMAL I get the best quality and least noise in all shooting situations. Can anyone explain this contradiction. It's driving me crazy.

Noise reduction only applies to long exposure shots (several seconds and longer). The Noise filter is a smoothing process for in-camera JPEG images and has different levels of strength - many consider even the normal setting sacrifices too much detail and many leave it switched off. Normal Gradation is what I use all the time. I would recommend you explore the world of RAW files processing as you will see even greater improvements in image quality via this route
